This page is designed for Support Coordinators and others who refer to NDIS Short Term Accommodation (STA). Find out everything you need to know about making a referral to Our Getaway on the Gold Coast. Clients and carers can find out more here.
Our Getaway offers NDIS short term accommodation for people over 16 with a disability. It is suitable for people looking for respite, emergency care, post-hospital stay or a holiday style break.
It’s perfect for teenagers and adults living with a complex neuromuscular, congenital muscular or neurological condition who are seeking more independence and an entertaining break from their current care environment.
A stay at Our Getaway offers a chance to develop independent living skills with staff on hand to support if required.
We have supported clients who are seeking to develop their lifeskills including teens preparing to move to Supported Independent Living (SIL) accommodation as well as adults learning to live with a new or changing disability.
Clients and their families are encouraged to visit before they stay to familiarise themselves with the venue and meet some of the team. Why not take a look yourself in our short video.
Our Getaway was custom built with large open spaces, individual bedrooms with TV and en-suite facilities. Accessibility features include:
Twenty four hour staffing means our friendly team are on hand whenever you need us. Individual dietary, health and care needs will be accommodated. Our Getaway staff are trained in first aid, CPR, child safety, manual handling, assisted medication, enteral feeding, catheter care and food safety. We do not provide specialist medical care or wound care, however we can work with you to secure an external agency whilst at our Centre.
Our Getaway offers a different respite experience in fun and welcoming accommodation. Planned placements and emergency respite are available. Wherever possible, we will accommodate urgent placements. Short term Accommodation also offers carers the chance to step away from their caring responsibilities knowing their loved one is being looked after.
We organise themed holidays throughout the year to appeal to different interests. These are a great chance for clients to participate in community activities, build on social skills and capacity and, of course, meet new people and have fun! These stays usually last one week and have included an art themed break, Girls weeks and foodies week. See this year’s list here.
Some clients choose to use Our Getaway for an extended break. This could be for a period of respite for both client and family. It may be post-hospital recovery time. We can design a different take on supported accommodation to provide a supportive and relaxing environment for clients to rest and recover and with a variety of activities both in centre and in the community.
