All Montrose appointments are changing

Kerrie Mahon - Montrose CEOResponding to COVID-19

The Montrose team has today decided that we will transition all therapy appointments to teletherapy or phone consultations. This decision has been made after carefully monitoring official updates regarding COVID-19 and in the interest of our customer and staff safety.

These are challenging times and we recognise that now more than ever it is important that we offer continuity of care and continue to support our customers to receive therapy and progress in their goals.

There is lots of evidence that TeleTherapy is a proven method to deliver therapy support to customers like ours. We have been running teletherapy and phone appointments for the past few weeks and the feedback from both customers and therapists has been overwhelmingly positive.

We understand that some customers may be less familiar with online services however we are committed to supporting you to be able to access our services in this new way.

Short Stay: At this stage, we plan to keep Short Stay on the Gold Coast open as we believe it offers a vital service at this time.

Lifestyle and Leisure: To keep customers safe, we are suspending Lifestyle and Leisure Services until further notice. All current activities and groups will stop immediately. We are currently working on potential alternatives to keep customers socially engaged, through video options.

Montrose TeleTherapy is evidence-based and has many benefits:

• No travel or waiting rooms involved! Talk to us from the comfort of your home.
• Therapists can provide direct therapy, coaching for parents, as well as consultative sessions to support you in continuing to work on your goals.
• Your therapist will work with you to use toys and other items in the home to run sessions.
• Allows our therapists to see you or your child in the home environment.
• Available with NDIS and SDSS funding. No therapist travel costs are charged.
• A great option where face-to-face therapy is not available over a sustained period.

What is available?

Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Social Work are available.

Can I include my translator

Additional people can join the meeting to provide translation or other support. Please let us know in advance so we can make the appropriate arrangements.

What do I need for TeleTherapy?

We use “Zoom” as our video conferencing system. It can be used from most devices including PCs, laptops, Ipads or mobile phone to speak to a Montrose staff member via video.

When you click on the meeting link we send, you will be prompted to download the appropriate software for your device. Customer information on how to connect to TeleTherapy is available here.

“We were initially unsure about how it would go but it worked surprisingly well. It was good to be able to go ahead. We were able to achieve a lot in the time we had.”
