Many Montrose customers are used to accessing our respite service. However, there is no NDIS item listed as ‘respite’, which can cause confusion. Don’t worry, respite is still available but it is described in new ways, such as:
Our Short Stay service on the Gold Coast can be NDIS funded if you have “Short term accommodation and assistance” in your package. Supported Holidays under “Community Access” in your package, are also available at the same facility.
What is Short-Term Accommodation (STA)?
Short Term Accommodation is accessible for short periods of time when a NDIS participant’s usual supports and/or accommodation cannot be accessed. Short term accommodation offers an opportunity for people with a disability to meet new people and try new activities, and also allows parents and carers to take a break or focus on other commitments.
STA includes all expenses in a 24 hour period including assistance with daily personal activities, accommodation, food and other activities.
A warm welcome
We aim to make our short stay accommodation service as much of a home from home as possible. Our Gold Coast Centre is a great place to access so many local activities from Theme Parks to fishing trips.
The team will look closely at individual needs including diet and health needs. We also keep age groups similar and offer special “holiday” style packages for people with similar interests.
How to book our NDIS Short Stay Accommodation
You can call us on 1800 193 362 or email to book in to our short stay accommodation. Costs are based on current NDIS Price Guides.
Longer term housing
Most short term accommodation packages will be limited to no more than 14 days at a time. For longer term housing, you will need to request that Supported Independent Living (SIL) is included in your NDIS plan. Montrose does not currently provide SIL but the Summer Foundation website is a good place to start.
