Help with NDIS

We can help you with NDIS

Montrose is a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Provider. We understand the NDIS can feel a little overwhelming especially when you first access the scheme. We have been working with the NDIS since it was introduced in Queensland so we have lots of experience to help you prepare for your first plan – and then get the most out of the scheme when you are in. Our therapy services are available using the NDIS and other funding sources.

What is the NDIS?

The NDIS is a federally funded scheme that provides individual funding packages for people with a disability. The NDIS is designed to help people achieve their goals. This may include:

  • Greater independence
  • Community involvement
  • Employment
  • Improved wellbeing.

Am I eligible for the NDIS?

To be eligible for NDIS disability supports, you need to meet the criteria. You can become a participant, if you:

  • are under 65 years of age; and
  • are an Australian citizen or resident or permanent visa holder; and
  • Have a permanent disability that substantially reduces your functional capacity, or you need access to early intervention supports

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the NDIS.

What NDIS support can I get?

The NDIS will fund reasonable and necessary supports that help people with a disability to achieve their goals.

The NDIS states that be considered reasonable and necessary, a support or service:

  • must be related to a participant’s permanent and significant disability
  • must not include day-to-day living costs not related to your disability support needs, such as groceries
  • should represent value for money
  • must be likely to be effective and work for the participant, and
  • should take into account support given to you by other government services, your family, carers, networks and the community.

How do I apply for the NDIS?

Read our five stage guide to accessing the NDIS here. You can talk to us at any time in the process to find out more about the supports you can access from us and for advice on the process.

The key stage in the application process is developing your NDIS plan.

How do I set my NDIS goals?

Your goals are about how you want to live your life. Think about the things you like to do, things you want to learn and new things you would like to try.

Make a list of those things and that is the start of your goals. The NDIS has groups of goals such as daily living, community participation, home modifications. You can get support to achieve goals in these areas and more.

The goals you set will determine the type of support you receive.
