DONATE TODAY: SUPPORT CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE WITH A DISABILITY IN QUEENSLAND

Staff spotlight: Laura Arundel (Physiotherapist)

Since she can remember, Physiotherapist Laura has known her future career would involve working with children.

After obtaining her Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) from Central Queensland University, a career at Montrose presented the ideal opportunity to apply her skills in a paediatric environment.
Laura has now worked at Montrose’s Ipswich Service Centre for ten months and has quickly built a reputation for her warmth and dedication to client outcomes.

‘Every day is different. It keeps you on your toes! It’s about having different approaches for different clients and being ready to adapt. You just can’t predict how it will go until you are there in the session with the client.’

Laura explains that working at Montrose has also allowed her to connect with other professionals and gain transferable skills for the future.

‘One special thing about Montrose is the ability to work so closely with other disciplines. A multi-disciplinary environment within physiotherapy is quite rare, and working within a paediatric setting allows for that to occur. You also get to learn about a wide range of conditions, disabilities and age groups.’

Reflecting on her time at Montrose so far, Laura says the team has been welcoming and supportive, but that’s not the only benefit.

‘The culture is great, it’s very fun and team-oriented. Another perk is my RDO and having flexibility to get things done.’

Recently married to her husband who is also a physiotherapist, Laura is focused on building a career based on her passion for paediatrics.

‘My husband works in private practice in Brisbane, which is very different but we learn a lot from each other. I know this [working at Montrose] is what suits me.

‘I would like to specialise down the track, and that’s why I love being at Montrose because I get to focus on building broad experience across paediatrics.’

Montrose is offering opportunities for Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists available across Queensland. Find out more and apply here.
