Speech Pathology

The Speech Pathologists at MontroseAccess aim to support children in maintaining and developing their speech, language, literacy, and swallowing skills. We work with children, families, caregivers, and educational staff to meet the needs of our clients. Speech Pathologists may provide support in a number of areas, including:

  • Speech (the ability to correctly produce speech sounds)
  • Language comprehension (understanding the spoken and written word)
  • Language expression (the ability to formulate and express ideas using grammar and vocabulary)
  • Augmentative and alternative communication (communication methods other than speech that are used instead of, or to assist spoken communication)
  • Development of literacy skills
  • Auditory processing skills (the ability to process what we hear)
  • Problem solving and thinking skills
  • Social skills
  • Fluent speech (stuttering)
  • Voice (eg. too loud or soft, huskiness)
  • Swallowing and mealtime issues
