Montrose opened an office in Townsville just over a year ago and we have already outgrown the space! This week we are moving to new premises with doors opening to customers on Monday 17 July 2017. Local Manager, Monica Laws, explains:
“It’s been a great first year under the NDIS with many new people choosing to access our services. We are really excited to be moving to a larger office space. For all of our customers this will mean easier access to our teams, more space for individual and group sessions, plenty of accessible free parking and greater convenience for customers knowing that Montrose will be in its new Townsville home for many years to come.
“The new service centre is located on the first floor, with easy lift access to our front door, at 86 Thuringowa Drive, Thuringowa Central – most local residents will know this as the previous Townsville Council building and the Townsville Library is still located on the ground floor. We look forward to welcoming you all to our new location.”
Montrose were not new to Townsville last year, having provided an outreach service to North Queensland for many years. However, the opening of a permanent office in Townsville allowed us to connect with many more people in the area. Customer numbers have been increasing steadily and we now offer a full range of therapy services under the NDIS and other funding sources.
Monica Laws explains that therapy services at Montrose are designed for each individual and could include Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Speech Pathology:
“Physiotherapy helps improve balance, coordination and strength through tailored therapy, exercises and informed advice.”
“Our occupational therapists help you to build the skills and confidence to take part in everyday activities. They can help you break down challenging activities into manageable tasks and gradually build on your strengths.
“The Speech Pathology team specialises in assisting children and adults who have difficulty with speech, reading, language, communicating and swallowing.
“We also have a Psychologist on the team who works with both children and adults.
“A particular area of focus for Montrose in Townsville is early intervention which research shows is vital for children with developmental delay, autism or a disability. All children grow up and learn at different rates and some take longer than others to learn to move, talk, interact and gain independence. Montrose is keen to talk to parents who have noticed their child finding it tough to keep up with others their age.”
As well as the NDIS, Montrose works with people with Better Start, Helping Children with Autism, Private Health and self-funding.
In addition to our new Townsville location, regular clinics are still available in Charters Towers, Deeragun and Ingham.
