A new clinic is being offered in Charters Towers by Montrose Therapy and Respite Services with staff from their Townsville office planning to make regular visits starting on Friday 15 July 2016.
Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy will be available.
The launch of the NDIS means more people are able to access therapy services and these sessions will be available to NDIS approved or NDIS eligible families as well as those with Better Start, HCWA, private health or self funding.
Local Manager, Monica Laws explains, “Our team of occupational therapists help you to build the skills and confidence to take part in everyday activities. They can help you break down challenging activities into manageable tasks and gradually build on your strengths.
“The Speech Pathology team specialises in assisting children and adults who have difficulty with speech, reading, language, communicating and swallowing.
“Physiotherapy helps improve balance, coordination and strength through tailored therapy, exercises and informed advice. Montrose therapists will work with you to help you meet your movement, mobility and gross motor goals.”
A particular area of focus for Montrose is early intervention which research shows is vital for children with developmental delay or a disability. All children grow up and learn at different rates and some take longer than others to learn to move, talk, interact and gain independence. Montrose is keen to talk to parents who have noticed their child finding it tough to keep up with others their age.
